Show Your Support by Shopping Small this Small Business Saturday
Small Business Saturday was established in 2010 to encourage holiday shoppers to patronize small businesses within their local communities. Observed annually on the day after Black Friday, Small Business Saturday is a great way to support the mom and pop shops that are critical to thriving local economies.
At Origin Bank, we understand the big impact small businesses make in the communities they call home. So before you fill up your cart at big box retailers, consider the benefits of shopping local this holiday season and beyond.
According to the U.S. Small Business Association (SBA):
● Businesses with 500 or fewer employees make-up 99.9% of all U.S. businesses and employ over 60.6 million people nationwide.
● Small businesses accounted for 62% of all new jobs created from 1995 – 2020.
● In 2019, 44% of all U.S. economic activity came from small businesses.
● 67 cents of every dollar spent at a small business remains in their local community.
Small businesses are vital to keeping our local and national economies strong. They provide jobs and opportunities, support communities through paychecks and taxes, and offer better customer service than large chains. Show your support by backing small businesses this holiday season as well as throughout the year.
